I have always been an artist by nature, but I married too young and had to put art on the back burner while I raised a family. I retired shortly after my last child ( #8) finished college.
When I retired I bought a digital camera, then a computer, then a couple of the less expensive editing programs. I struggled to learn to use the computer, and the programs. After that I bought a painting program and learned to use it. It was all trial and error and frustrating as there was no one to answer all the questions I had.
This all took a couple years, but I was finally producing work I liked, and best of all, other people liked. Friends encouraged me to put some of my work in a local gallery. My work was accepted and some sold.
I continued my self teaching and, while working at the gallery, I studied other artists work, and adjusted my technique with my virtual painting tools and photo editing.
Nature has been my favored subject, but recently I have added landmark buildings, covered bridges, and cityscapes. I also do some fantasy composites and whimsical pieces.
I hope you enjoy my work.
